Inscribed by Bynner, "Life is long but to jib Ion short, Hal Bynner, This memorable night, September 28, 1918. Witness: Howard". (The word 'Howard" is in the hand of Howard Cook from whose estate this copy came. Cook was a poet and compiler of poetry anthologies. A fair copy, edges of spine worn, spine dull, fore-edges soiled. Several poems are marked with a pencil mark/slash, probably by Cook, and the poem "To Yourself" on p. 112 has a note, again probably by Cook, "use in introduction of chapter="
