Marcus Warwick Atheist
London: Kegan Paul, Trench, Trubner & Co., Ltd., 1898. First Edition. Original Cloth. Very Good.
12mo., original green cloth with a blind stamp illustration on the front cover, 396pp. Apparently the author's or publisher's copy, with corrections throughout possibly for issuing a second edition. Tipped onto the title page is a list "Alternative Titles: - 'Marcus Warwick., A Conscientious Sin.', 'A Law Unto Himself', 'Marcus Warwick's Sin'". On the title page of our copy the word "Atheist" has been lined out. In the table of "Contents", Part III, the 2nd chapter title "Marcus Is Alarmed" is crossed out and "A Philosopher at Fault" is written in. On page 69, last line "...forgot to dream of her" is crossed out and a slip of paper is tipped in with page 69, "did not dream of her" in pencil. 12 other pages have manuscript corrections. OCLC locates only microform, Internet resource or computer file copies, but apparently Cornell has a copy. Not in Sadlier or Wolff. A very good copy.
