New York (1912): Charles Scribner's Sons. First Edition. Original Cloth. 8vo., 319pp. Very Good.
Original cloth in the original printed dust jacket. Illustrated by Armand Both. The dust jacket is chipped at the top of the spine and a little less chipped at the bottom edge. The book itself is in very good condition. PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED AND SIGNED in 1935, "Dear Mr. Bell: I wrote this for my youngest son, Arthur, who wanted a frontier story without any love in it. This this became a semi-juvenile. Arthur Scribner always regretted it wasn't a "full fledged novel", it might, infact, just as well have been one - I mean as to work. I thought I might make it the first of a series of the one a year variety. But this meant, I found, a lot of work. I never was good at one-a-year stuff anyway! Sincerely, Frank H. Spearman, -------?, Hollywood, Los Angeles, February 1935."
